“Understanding what consciousness is, and why and how it evolved, is perhaps the greatest mystery known to science.”
Direct Personal Experience of Consciousness
The most effective way to understand consciousness is through the phenomenon of awareness itself, the observer, consciousness. World traditions from the East offer thousands of years of research into consciousness through the process of meditation, direct personal experience. For the past 50-60 years people from around the globe have engaged in those practices to experience and verify the effectiveness of those traditions and viewpoints. How does science look at consciousness today?
Scientists are studying consciousness, by studying the effects of consciousness. They are aware of the shortcomings to try and explain consciousness from that perspective. They are now developing the tools for non evasively studying the brain along with developing the computational ideas and models so they can understand how the brain can deal with information.
Unless science embraces the importance of direct personal experience of consciousness through a meditative practice, they will only be looking at consciousness from the outside, rather than from within consciousness itself.

University of the Universe Consciousness Courses
University of the Universe provides programs to learn how to directly experience consciousness, as well as advanced programs to experience the unboundedness of consciousness, to such an extent that one’s awareness becomes larger than our universe. With a broadened awareness one can perceive and better understand the phenomenon of consciousness with our universe, our brain and our body.
While this may seem impossible, consider that 50-60 years ago in America the word “consciousness” was not part of the conversation of main stream science. Today that situation is changing and more and more scientists are attempting to equate the phenomenon of consciousness to the quantum field. While that is a good beginning, the University of the Universe offers more advanced programs to understand the details of consciousness from the direct personal experience of consciousness that is broader than our universe, unbounded, and infinite.
Scientists who develop this enhanced perception will be those scientists who will bring greater understanding to the role of consciousness in the brain and body.
